On 2nd June 2026, Khasadrapchu Middle Secondary School observed Social Forestry Day and commemorated the coronation of our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, through a bamboo plantation programme. A total of 17 staff members, along with the Principal, Vice Principal, and School Management Team (SMT) members, actively participated in planting bamboo saplings along the loose soil area above the ECCD Centre at Khasadrapchu.
The plantation activity was carried out to promote environmental conservation and enhance the stability of the surrounding landscape. Bamboo was selected because its extensive root system helps bind loose soil, thereby reducing soil erosion and preventing landslides, especially during the monsoon season. In addition, bamboo contributes to water conservation, improves soil quality, and supports biodiversity by providing habitat for various organisms.
The programme reflected the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship while honouring the visionary leadership and legacy of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
