On 19th May 2026, a training and orientation programme on “Digital Lopen” was conducted at Khasadrapchu Middle Secondary School by Sangay Tenzin, the EdTech Focal of the school. The programme aimed to orient teachers on the importance of digital competencies, reflective professional growth, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning. The session highlighted Bhutan’s Education Technology Framework (ETF), which focuses on transforming teaching and learning through meaningful use of technology rather than merely using computers.
During the orientation, teachers were introduced to the concept of Digital Lopen as a structured professional learning programme designed to help teachers develop digital competencies for effective, inclusive, and responsible teaching practices. The programme also emphasized the importance of the Digital Literacy Standards for Teachers (DLST) and the role of self-directed learning, collaborative study groups, and experiential classroom practices in enhancing teacher professionalism.
The session further discussed the importance of preparing students for 21st-century learning by promoting digital literacy, online safety, critical thinking, collaboration, and responsible technology use. Teachers were also briefed on the whole-school approach towards digital transformation and the responsibilities of educators in creating future-ready classrooms.
The training concluded successfully with active participation and engagement from the teachers and formation of Study Group. The programme encouraged teachers to embrace reflective practices, collaborative learning, and responsible integration of technology to improve classroom teaching and student learning outcomes.
